Ed Bender Family vacation to Lions Head, Ontario in August of 1968.
Guests present: Ed, Marie, Sandy and Bill Bender.
The Lions Head, Ontario yearly vacation tradition first began when Ed Bender heard about the Lions Head on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario when he was in grade school.
He was inspired by the story of a lions head that could be seen on the rocky bluffs at Lions Head, Ontario.
So he resolved to see it for himself and in 1949 he took a trip with his family and his brother Norman's family.
Subsequently this started a yearly family tradition. They would rent a very small cottage in Lions Head, on the Georgian Bay.
Later, in the 1970s, they rented slightly bigger and better cottages when the original cottage closed down.
Then, in the 1980s, Sandy Bender bought a very nice cottage on Carter Lane, Lions Head, Ontario overlooking the Georgian Bay.
Since that time, much has been done and added to it and many of family and friends have stayed here over the years.
Sandy passed away in 2010 and willed it to her nephew, Doug Jr..
